Solar Screens in Houston, TX

Houston sun loads west- and south-facing glass hard for much of the year. Solar screens cut glare and heat gain while still letting you see out — a practical add-on for homes and offices that already have good windows but need relief from direct sun.

When solar screens are worth adding

Solar Screens · Houston, TX
  • 01 Afternoon sun overheats a room even with the AC running
  • 02 Glare makes TVs or desks hard to use near the windows
  • 03 You want heat control without heavy tint that darkens the room at night
  • 04 Existing insect screens are worn and due for replacement anyway
  • 05 A commercial office needs comfort on a sun-facing elevation

Do solar screens help with Houston heat and glare?

Yes. Solar screens are designed to reduce solar heat and glare through windows while maintaining outward visibility. They are a common upgrade on west- and south-facing elevations in Houston where afternoon sun drives up interior temperatures and washes out screens and furniture.

What You Get

How the job is done

  • 01

    Comfort at the glass

Screens reduce the solar load that turns a sunny room into a heat trap.

  • 02

    View preserved

You keep an outward view — solar screens are not blackout treatments.

  • 03

    Sized to each opening

Frames and mesh are matched to the window so the screen sits correctly.

  • 04

    Pairs with glass work

Screens can be discussed alongside window glass replacement in the same visit.

01

Solar screens versus window tint

Tint films live on the glass; solar screens sit in front of it. Screens are removable for cleaning and do not permanently change the look of the glass at night the way some dark tints do. For many Houston homes, screens are the simpler comfort upgrade on a few hot elevations.

If you are already replacing insulated glass, ask about screens in the same appointment so sun control and glass work are planned together.

Our Process

How we handle solar screens

  1. 01

    Identify problem elevations

We note which windows take the worst sun and how the openings are framed.

  2. 02

    Measure openings

Each screen is sized to the window it will cover.

  3. 03

    Build and install

Screens are fabricated and set so they seat securely and operate as designed.

  4. 04

    Confirm fit

We check seating and appearance from inside and outside before closing out.

Solar Screens FAQs

Questions about solar screens

Will solar screens make my rooms too dark?

They reduce glare and heat; they do not black out a room like heavy shades. The interior still receives daylight, with less harsh sun on the glass.

Can you put solar screens on only some windows?

Yes. Many customers screen only the west or south elevations that cause the problem, not every window on the house.

How do I request solar screen work?

Call (832) 253-2925 to get an appointment. We will look at the openings and discuss screen options for those elevations.
